IGLFA
The International Gay & Lesbian Football Association (IGLFA) was founded in 1992 in order to help promote and foster the growth of LGTBQ football worldwide. Since IGLFA’s creation, more than 100 teams/clubs representing over 30 countries have joined and participated in IGLFA competitions. Each of these teams/clubs has played a vital role in helping IGLFA accomplish its goals and uphold its mission.
Tournament Details:
Our friends at the Federal Triangles Soccer Club (FTSC) are hosting the 2022 7v7 IGLFA World Championships this June. Games will be played on June 8-11. This will also coincide with Capital Pride (DC’s Pride events)!
Cost: The club plans on fundraising through sponsors to offset as much of the tournament costs as possible. At this time, expect to have to pay for your travel (airfare), lodging (Hotel/Airbnb), and the usual stuff like food, drinks, and adventures.
Airfare is trending at $330+ round trip as of January 2022, and the tournament is offering hotel accommodations at the Yours Truly Hotel for $199/night, but other hotel options are available for less. We can also consider splitting the cost of an Airbnb or Vrbo.
Format: Games are outdoor 7v7 and consist of two 25-minute halves with unlimited substitutions. We are guaranteed at least 6 games. Our roster cannot exceed 12 players so you must be able to commit to the entire tournament. We would be playing in the all-genders open division 2 or 3. All games (except finals) will be between 2:00 – 6:00 pm, so you have time to “work” remotely, sightsee, or recover from the night before.
